What makes it different

There is no electricity and no fresh water on Coron Island, so we make our own — A houseboat's solar roof seen from aboveover 200 kW of solar on the roofs, light and water around the clock, and not a drop of waste in the sea. Eight houseboats, The Bamboo houseboat lit at nightsixteen rooms and over three hundred people, most of them Tagbanua, who call this lagoon home. Paolyn staff in their blue shirts

The setting

Four lagoons, one address

National Reserve since 1967, Marine Reserve since 1978, UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1990 — and the ancestral land of the Tagbanua Tribe.

Private Italo-Filipino restaurant

Dinner in the next lagoon

A restaurant houseboat open only to guests who sleep over, so it never fills with day-trippers. Fried calamari, carbonara or pasta al nero di seppia, crab or king prawns in coconut milk, crêpes with Nutella — cooked fresh from that morning’s Coron market.

  • Free delivery to your private deck, if you would rather dine there
  • Extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar from Modena on every table
  • Mostly Italian wines, cold beer and cocktails

Eco-friendly, and fair

Off the grid, on purpose

Coron Island is a National Reserve, a Marine Reserve and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Solar roofs make the power, waste water never touches the sea — and most of the people who look after you are Tagbanua, the tribe that owns the lagoons.

How it works
  • 200+kW of solar panels on the roofs
  • 304people employed, from only eight houseboats
  • 50,000kg of rice donated to the two tribal villages, 2021–23
  • 2,500tribe members whose medicines the houseboats have paid for
